OutdoorArtsUK, 101 Outdoor Arts and Without Walls are delighted to have launched Wherever You Are, Whoever You Are, The Arts Are Yours: A Strategy for Joy and Belonging created for, with and by the Outdoor Arts Sector. Supported by Arts Council England and developed with Sud Basu of Third Version Creative, the strategy has been created for, with and by the Outdoor Arts sector.

This document sets out a vision and framework to strengthen the outdoor arts sector over the next ten years. It brings together insights from the sector survey, consultations, interviews and roundtables conducted over the past 12 months. It provides a foundation for the future – focusing on vision, value and challenge – and outlines key objectives as a shared framework that reflects the diverse voices of the sector.

We would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who contributed. Your input clearly highlighted the need for the sector to work together to  improve collaboration and create better access to resources and opportunities. To read the full document, please click the button below.

Developing a Delivery Plan

Following the launch of the Outdoor Arts Sector Strategy in February, OutdoorArtsUK has taken on the responsibility of co-developing its Delivery Plan with the sector for the Strategy’s first objective: Sector Development.

Through a series of initial discussions with colleagues, several areas of inquiry have emerged:

  • Outdoor arts as a practice (place, community and public space)
  • The relationship between artistic excellence and social impact
  • Artist and artwork development
  • Collaboration and clustering

We would now like to test these emerging ideas with the wider sector and gather perspectives that can inform the next phase of developing the delivery plan. Therefore, we ask you to complete a survey, which you can access here.

This survey is intended to test the current direction of travel rather than develop detailed solutions. Your responses will help us understand whether the priorities and ideas emerging from the process resonate with the wider sector.

You can also participate in an online roundtable by registering here.

Strategy Summary

The strategy was shared widely in an email from Arts Professional, which gave a summary of the document and explained why outdoor arts matters and how we can come together to widen access to culture, deepen social impact and understand excellence through community voice.
